The Heart-Heart Foundation Cambodia Branch is implementing a project to prevent and manage Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
in the Battambang region of Cambodia.
Every year on November 14th is ‘World Diabetes Day‘, established by the WHO and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
This day is a meaningful occasion to raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes
and re-emphasize the importance of prevention and management.

In response, the Heart-Heart Foundation Cambodia Branch has, since 2023,
commemorated World Diabetes Day by creating healthy change together with the local community through walking campaigns and plogging activities.
On this World Diabetes Day 2025, we conducted a campaign focused on diabetes prevention and environmental protection under the theme,
‘Walk for Diabetes Plus: Well-being for People & Planet.‘

A Healthy Step for the Environment, ‘Plogging‘
The ‘Plogging‘ activity conducted in the Thmar Koul area was a campaign that combined walking for health and environmental cleanup,
significantly contributing to raising awareness in the community about the importance of diabetes prevention.
A total of 179 people participated in this plogging activity,
including the Thmar Koul District Governor and Deputy Governor, Operational District (OD) Manager and NCD Team,
officials from the Department of Education, local authorities, as well as teachers, students, and parents.
Residents walking by also showed interest in the plogging activity,
actively reading the slogans and messages on the diabetes prevention banners carried by the participants.

The trash collected by the participants through this plogging activity amounted to a total of 123 kg.
Including the use of 20 reusable bags instead of plastic bags,
the activity achieved the result of reducing approximately 19.40 kg of carbon emissions.
This plogging activity was a win-win, contributing to both the health promotion of the participants and the creation of a cleaner environment.

Enjoyable Exercise, Social Club ‘Sports Day‘
Following the plogging activity, the Bansaytreng and Kdoltahen health centers
hosted a ‘Sports Day‘ with Social Club members and their invited family and neighbors.
The purpose of this activity was to encourage participants to personally experience and practice physical activity habits for diabetes prevention.

Going forward, we are committed to broadening community awareness of diabetes
and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
We encourage you to follow our journey and participate in upcoming activities!
