“Surgery Component Handover Workshop”

The stakeholders that participated in the workshop
On 11th April, a meeting was held by Heart-to-Heart Foundation Malawi to hand over the
‘S’ component(Surgery part of the SAFE strategy of WHO) to the Machinga District Community.
At the workshop with participants of Ministry of Health, District Health Office and ophthalmologist, the background and
achievements of Heart-to-Heart Foundation Malawi were presented as well as the tasks given to the community for eliminating Trachoma.
Cooperation among the organizations was highly emphasized for the prevention of Trachoma in this district.
Presentation on the result of surgery by HtHF Malawi
The last surgery camp conducted by Heart-to-Heart Foundation will be held in May,
followed by surgery follow-ups and the handing over of consumables and equipment.
Also, the dossier for sustainable surgery project will be shared amongst the stakeholders in June.
Heart to Heart Foundation Malawi has delivered surgeries for 531 people in Machinga district in Malawi since 2015,
and will continue on with the prevention of Trachoma through the F & E projects in schools.

as well as Machinga’s preparation to fight against the contagious disease on its own capacity.
