Held the Auxiliary Manpower of Eye Care Service workshop in Bangladesh

On 12 December 2018, HHI (Heart to Heart International) Bangladesh branch office facilitated workshop regarding developing of auxiliary manpower of eye care service including MLOP(Mid-Level Ophthalmic personnel) at Four-Points hotel in Bangladesh. The HHI and KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) have been working to foster MLOP to address the shortage of eye health personnel in Bangladesh since 2011. For settlement of MLOP cadre in Bangladesh, the HHI has been working with DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services in Bangladesh) by developing the MLOP standard curriculum and manuals. After the development of the MLOP standard curriculum and manual, the HHI and Bangladesh government have made an effort to encourage MLOP institution to use the standard curriculum and manuals actively.
In this workshop, Dr. Enayet, deputy commissioner of the General Health Administration, Prof. Aba Hossein, vice president of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmology Association, and MLOP organizations attended and shared their MLOP training strategies and deal with their future plan and direction to move forward for MLOP.
Moreover through its workshop, the HHI shared the performance and experience of MLOP training, and promised keep work together with stakeholders to sustainable training of auxiliary eye care personnel in Bangladesh.
