POSCO INTERNATIONAL (President Joo Si-bo) and Heart to Heart Foundation (President & CEO Oh Jee-chul) held the ‘2021 POSCO INTERNATIONAL - Uzbekistan Technology Institute Scholarship Award Ceremony’ at each ‘Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov’ and ‘Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute’ on November 24, respectively.
There was relevant stakeholders, POSCO INTERNATIONAL‘s Lee Chang-hoon(General Director of Tashkent branch), Kim Kyung-min(Deputy General Director of Tashkent branch), Tashkent State Technical University Named After Islam Karimov’s Turabdjanov Sadritdin Mahamatdinovich(Rector), Zaripov Orifjon Olimovich(Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs), Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute’s Usmanov Botir Shukurillaevich(Rector), Babakhanova Zebo Abdullaevna(Head of International Relations Department), and all scholarship students present at the Scholarship Award Ceremony.
Totally twenty-five vulnerable students from the Tashkent State Technical University Named After Islam Karimov and Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute have received the scholarship as a part of a project donated by POSCO INTERNATIONAL and supported by POSCO 1% Foundation.
The project aims to discover and strengthen excellent students through scholarship support and to reduce the burden of tuition fees for scholarship students, which has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has continued since last year.
Lee Chang-hoon, General Director of Tashkent branch, expressed his feeling "I feel very grateful to be able to discover excellent talents in engineering through scholarship support even under this difficult situation caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. I hope you all grow into leaders leading Uzbekistan‘s bright future.” In addition, stakeholders from each university responded, "Thanks to POSCO INTERNATIONAL and the Heart to Heart Foundation with support on the students faced economic challenges to have them devote themselves to study by the scholarship project.”
In addition, Yusupova Nozima, a scholarship student at Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute, mentioned "As a POSCO INTERNATIONAL scholarship student, I will study hard and become a necessary talent for Uzbekistan” as the representative.

POSCO INTERNATIONAL and Heart to Heart Foundation have been taking the lead in various social contributions, by starting the project on ‘Master Class for Pediatric Cataract ‘and ‘Eye Health Support’ for the Fergana and Bukhara regions from 2018, the ‘COVID-19 medical institution support project’ (artificial respirator support) in 2021.
