Heart to Heart is continuing its commitment to the education and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, focusing on the use of art and culture as medium in Korea and eye health system building in developing countries. Praised as El Sistema of Korea, Heart to Heart Orchestra with young people with developmental disability is opening a new field of professional vocation rehabilitation for people with developmental disability. As a member of International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), Heart to Heart continues its work to develop and employee comprehensive eye care programs and save lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Heart to Heart unfolded unique cultural welfare programs for the disabled such as organizing the orchestra with young people with developmental disability and launching first chamber orchestra for the blind in Korea. Collaborating in partnership with governments and international institutions, Heart to Heart International started international development programs to improve the quality of life of the people with disease and disabilities in the poorest communities on the world.

In order to serve the needs of the community according to the diversifying social changes, Heart to Heart International launched nationwide medical and disability support program. The Foundation’s policy has widened from serving local community to giving all persons with disabilities and medical problems access to basic healthcare services and education. Especially, the Foundation focused on providing medical support for low income families and their children and caring comprehensive support for children with developmental disability.

In 1988, Heart to Heart International initiated the social welfare service for the children and their families suffering from poverty, disability and disease, in Seoul Korea. In 1991, in order to accommodate the growing welfare needs of the local community, the Foundation established the comprehensive Heart to Heart Social Welfare Center and started to provide enhanced social services serving the most vulnerable communities in Seoul.
