Trachoma, an eye infection with the bacterium, is the leading cause of blindness.
It is important to get diagnosed at an early stage in order to be treated successfully.
To do so, Heart-to-Heart International developed and distributed teaching materials on
Trachoma prevention in collaboration with the local government and Malawian Ministry of Education to raise awareness of
'Trachoma' and prevention methods amongst children.

It is expected that children can easily understand Trachoma with the books characterised by illustrations that
describe trachoma transmission, facial cleanliness and so on.

The books are used in classrooms for the primary school students in Machinga district starting this coming semester.
Trachoma elimination begins in the classrooms from the new semester!

Please show us your support for the Trachoma elimination movement in protecting eye health of Malawi's growing future!
