Our Work
Heart to Heart Orchestra is a professional cultural and artistic organization that supports the independence of individuals with developmental disabilities and promotes a society where disabled and non-disabled individuals coexist.
Founded in 2006 by Heart to Heart Foundation, the orchestra initially started as a wind orchestra composed of brass instruments. Since 2010, it has expanded into a full symphony orchestra, now consisting of approximately 40 individuals with developmental disabilities.
We strive to create a society where individuals with developmental disabilities can communicate with the world through music, living alongside both disabled and non-disabled individuals.
We aim to lead in the advancement of cultural and artistic development for individuals with disabilities through independent and socially contributive activities.
Since its inception, the Heart to Heart Orchestra has held annual concerts, featuring high-level performances that showcase both developmental disability performers and world-class musicians, moving the audience with various themed concerts.
We organize and host overseas performances to promote the values and changes brought by individuals with developmental disabilities to the global community, spreading Korea's excellent model of cultural welfare for people with disabilities. To date, we have performed in countries such as China, the USA, Canada, France, and Germany. Notably, we successfully held concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., providing inspiration and vision to audiences worldwide.
Various performing groups, including Heart to Heart Orchestra and Heart Ensemble (string quartets, quintets, woodwind quintets, and percussion ensembles), conduct disability awareness improvement performances at schools, government offices, and corporations. Through performances and lectures that convey the stories and emotions of the Heart to Heart Orchestra, we enhance understanding of developmental disabilities and foster a culture that respects diversity.
We collaborate with government agencies and private enterprises to develop job opportunities for musicians with developmental disabilities, enabling them to participate in stable employment and build a foundation for independence.
